Today being Memorial Day, I hope everyone is remembering why this day was set aside as a holiday. There have been millions of Americans that have given their life in order for you to live in the best country in the world. Stand up for your beliefs and work for the betterment of the country as a whole, not just for your own special wants.
Enough of that!
I have to say it is a beautiful day here in Florida. The sun is out and the skies are a beautiful blue. The last week has been quite wet and dreary for sure. We received about 30" of rain from last Sunday through Thursday, and then it was just our normal afternoon showers. The pictures I'm sharing today were taken Thursday morning and a couple from this morning for comparison. We did have a tremendous amount of water, and some of the homes in other parts of our community were in danger of flooding. Even though we live in the flood-plane, the odds of our house flooding is very low because of the height of the ground and our home itself (still have to purchase flood insurance though).
You can see in the background part of my trellis that was blown down. This wheelbarrow was mostly under a roof but you can see it still filled up with water.
Tomorrow I will go on to something different. I don't know what as yet, but it won't be about rain, that's for sure. I know that all the rain reminds our family members that live in the North-West of home, but we have the sun most of the time. That is the big yellow thing in the sky for those of you that don't see it often.
By the way, welcome back, C.P. As most of you know, my cousin Pat fell and hurt her hand and wasn't able to use the computer. After she went through withdrawals, she is now able to type again and she did send me an email expressing her happiness about wearing a specific undergarment only women wear. Anyway, it's good to have her back in the fold. So until tomorrow, adios!
It must be nice to be able to see that big yellow thing in the sky again. 30" of water is almost unbeliveable.
ReplyDeleteGoing back a few posts. John and I also used to square dance. Brought back alot of fun memories.
Question: Have you ever square danced in a round room? A square dance club hosted us at their club in Guerneville and the place for their meetings was in the old Grove Ballroom which was round. They challenged us to see if we could keep our SQUARE. We fooled them, cuz we did. Just kept our eyes on the caller. Really didn't know if we could, but we did. So they had to buy the beer. After that a group of us went on up to "My Place" and spent the night. Guerneville is just a few miles from My Place, if you recall where Guerneville is. The Grove Ballroom was just on the left, before the stop sign, as you enter Guerneville.
Just a few of my memories to share with you.
C.P.
